Kotor, Montenegro

Despite some bad luck with the weather here on the Adriatic for this week, I found a clear afternoon to make a short trip to Kotor from Budva. Kotor is situated on a breathtaking bay/fjord with unbelievable hills all around and the castle San Giovanni atop one with the scenic little old town at its base. The ruins of the castle give impressive views of Boka Bay and are pretty cool in their own right. Not much to say here, just admire the pictures. The top three are the Old Town and the rest are the castle or views from it.

Details:
The entirety of the Montenegran coast is about 2.5 hours by bus so getting to Kotor from Budva is simple, quick, and cheap. Just go to the main bus station in Budva and get a ticket to Kotor ($4/3€ or $3/2.50€, 30 min, depart every 20 minutes). You'll be dropped off at the bus station, just outside of the Old Town. Orient yourself by looking up for the ruins on the hill. Head towards the base of the ruins to enter the Old Town and walk to the far end. Just before the bridge out of the Old Town will be a stairway up to the entrance where you'll pay the $3/2€ fee and start the climb. The Old Town is best seen by just wandering through it a bit. It isn't large nor is it a maze, but there are plenty of little alleys to take a photo of. Get back to Budva the same way you came in, or you could also go on to Croatia.
